We debated whether we should use it as a first or middle name and ended up using it as a first name. I loved that it was so well known but so uncommon on girls born in 2013. It was the best of both worlds.

I just saw a reel on Instagram that I can highly relate to, where the boomer mom is trying out every grandma name out there (nana, Gigi, etc). Except my mom has purposely sought out names from other languages and been trying them on. She has landed on nonna. We are not remotely Italian.

My godparents are nonna (she is italian-french) and yayo (it was easier for us kids than the german counterpart). Both grandmas are Mimi firstname.
