Certainly not always, but generally speaking, biology tends to be about the study and protection of living things. It can be plenty lucrative, but is often not geared in that direction.
The workforce is flooded with biology and chemistry BS degree holders and employers tend to see them as interchangeable, so expect somewhat low wages for a Bs in either. Best ROI is probably engineering like chemical, then at least you’ll have a decent basis in chemistry and you’ll learn the physics and engineering side too.
You can absolutely tell the difference between someone that did a biology degree because they actually like the field and someone who did it just because they were pre-med. I find Biology is more useful to major in if you intend to go to graduate school for Bio related research/Med school/PA school after and not really so much for a good stable job (Of course again this is based on location). So, my advice would be looking at possible career choices should you pursue Chemistry vs. Biology.
