Sep 8, 2021 · So if you give up on the church, you give up on God’s plan. If you walk away from church, you walk away from Christ’s redemptive work. If you say you love Jesus, but you’ll no longer be around the church, you’re saying to Jesus, “I love you, but I can’t stand your bride. I’ll hang out with you, but I refuse to be with her.”
- Look at the life of Jesus, not the imperfect lives of others. If the church has disappointed you, welcome to Planet Earth. The church is made up of imperfect people who make mistakes and do hurtful things, just like you.
- Examine your expectations. If God has disappointed you by not meeting your expectations, I want to gently encourage you to ask yourself: If I am the created, do I have a right to demand from the Creator what I think He should do for me?
- Focus on the facts, not your feelings. God’s Word contains facts about who He is. Yet our feelings tell us otherwise: God is punishing me. God no longer hears my prayers.
- Do the right thing, not the easy thing. It’s natural to want what is easy. And you may think it’s easier to walk away, to quit trying, to quit praying.

- They hear nothing but judgment. Presented lovingly, judgment is part of helping people see their need for Jesus. The problem is that they too often hear it presented unlovingly.
- They hear only stories and humor. They come to church desperately wanting to hear something from God to help them with their chaotic lives, but they instead hear little or nothing from the Word.
- Nobody connects with them. They may come with some desire to be anonymous, but most do not come with a hope of being ignored. When nobody talks to them, they see little reason to keep coming.

Nov 21, 2014 · The point Paul is making is, “I am not telling you to stop eating with unbelievers who act this way — I am telling you to stop eating with believers who act this way.” In other words, a kind of holy ostracism. “If a person lives in unrepentant sin, but still claims to be a Christian, the Church should stand away from them.”
