Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu MC (born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Albanian: [aˈɲɛzə ˈɡɔndʒɛ bɔjaˈdʒi.u]; 26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997), better known as Mother Teresa or Saint Mother Teresa, [a] was an Albanian-Indian Catholic nun, founder of the Missionaries of Charity and is a Catholic saint.
Mother Teresa, Roman Catholic saint and Nobel laureate known for her missionary work with the poor in India. She founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to the poor, and was canonized as a saint in 2016.
St. Teresa of Calcutta is the patron saint of World Youth Day, Missionaries of Charity and a co-patron of the Archdiocese of Calcutta, alongside St. Francis Xavier. Her feast day is celebrated on September 5.
