   May 19, 2023 · The road into the park is littered with bags and bags of trash. The beach is a solid 5 min walk and probably the only redeeming feature in this area (besides chucks seafood!) also.:no cell service in this campground if you need it. Ide avoid this part of the coast or look at another state park close by…lots to choose from!

   Sept 2020. There are two Sunset Beachs on the Oregon coast. This one is on the eastern edge of Sunset Bay near Charleston, Oregon, several miles west of Coos Bay/Northbend. As this is Oregon the water is nearly always cold. The beach is protected from most major ocean waves and is quite accessible from nearby parking.

   Is Sunset Bay a good place to stay?

   • Sunset Bay is a beautiful area. The bay/beach cove is exceptional. Parking is great as well. The problem here is that there are NO restroom facilities. ll restrooms are closed. The state of Oregon prefers tourists and visitors to urinate and defecate in the bushes and shrubs. I consider this unsanitary. Other that that the place is beautiful.

   Is Sunset a good time to go to the beach?

   • Sunset here would be amazing, however it was too foggy during our visit. This is one of the best beaches in the area if you are looking for a sheltered area with a wide beach and plenty of parking. Coming here at sunrise or just before dawn is 100% doable as the path to the beach is short and without hazards.
