Compiled by Sayyid al-Sharif ar-Radi more than 1,000 years ago, it is considered a literary masterpiece and, by the Shia Muslims, the most valuable text after the Holy Qur'an.
Letter 1: Addressed to the people of Kufa before proceeding for the Battle of Jamal. Letter 2: Written to the people of Kufah after the victory of Basrah. Letter 3: To the Qadhi (judge) of Kufa, Shurayh b. Haarith when he purchased a costly house. Letter 4: To one of the officers of his army.
Nahj-ul-Balagha is a collection of Sermons, Letters and Sayings left as a memorial from the Master of the Pious, the Commander of the Faithful, Ali, peace be upon him. This book is divided into three sections of Sermons, Letters and short Sayings or' wise Sayings' (hikam), some of which have been selected from among the Sermons and Letters.
