    • Quick Tips For Selling Used Books Online

This might seem obvious, but, first of all, remember that used books are ... used. That means someone has likely read them in entirety before and flipped through all those pages. You may see notes in the margins, highlighted passages and pages that are slightly stained or dog-eared. They may also come with "used" stickers or stamps on the cover, as...

Once you've figured out what to look for, you need to actually know where to search. There honestly aren't too many Canadian-based companies that sell used books online, but there are some pretty great international options – and some of them even offer free shipping to Canada. We did a little digging and came up with this list of the best places t...

Need new textbooks this semester? Looking at the price tags might make you a little queasy, since they usually cost anywhere from dozens to hundreds of dollars – and that's just for one book. If you're taking a full course load (especially in law, business or the sciences), you can expect to shell out close to a month's rent every year on new books...

In general, your used books need to be in good condition if you're hoping to sell them online. That means they should have their original covers intact and not be missing any pages. It also helps if you haven't written in the margins or highlighted any words, but some sites will still accept books with these markings. Wondering how to sell used boo...

    • Wordery. Like Book Depository, this is a U.K.- based online bookstore with supposedly free global shipping. Alas, by “global,” they truly mean “fewer than 40 countries.”
    • Waterstones. I didn’t set out to include primarily U.K.- based bookshops, but best laid plans, right? Waterstones, and its academic and specialized cousin Blackwell’s, have huge selections, and they truly do ship almost worldwide.
    • Better World Books. Better World Books really seems to live up to the hype, and it has a decent chance of becoming my new online bookstore of choice. Based in the United States, it ships to a great deal of countries at either $1.49 for orders under $15, or free for orders over $15.
    • World of Books. If you love second hand books as much as I do, keep an eye on World of Books or, as its logo proclaims, Wob. It doesn’t ship worldwide, but it does offer affordable shipping to a decent number of countries, plus free shipping within the U.K., and it has a nice selection of over seven million books.
  2. May 8, 2024 · 8. eBay. Of course, eBay, the popular international selling platform for secondhand items, also ranks among the best places to buy used books online. Here, you can find secondhand books not just from Canada but also from other countries, increasing your chances of finding and negotiating the best prices for your books.

  3. Shop over 7 million books, home decor, stationery, toys, and more. Plus, free shipping and pick up in store on eligible orders.

  4. Apr 7, 2023 · “I received 11 books today in perfect condition in a brown cardboard satchel, like the book depository, just amazing!!! :)” —May. While this won’t assuage our collective mourning over the shuttering of Book Depository, I hope this helps lessen the blow, and there’s a big hole to fill in the market now.

  6. Its totally legit, as long as you know they don't ship books together and it takes a few weeks. I ordered 8 books at once and all 8 came on separate sequential days. Book Depository is owned (and operated as far as I know), by Amazon themselves. I live in Canada and have made multiple purchases from Book Depository.
