Sep 2, 2024 · OP, this was the first time I experienced anything close to a 'Sophie's Choice" moment. "The Remains of the Day" has ALWAYS been one of my favorite books – it won the Booker Prize, and Ishiguro of course later won the fucking NOBEL for literature – and of Hopkins' many, many, MANY astounding performances, this is my own favorite as well.
Jan 13, 2022 · Yes I love his movies. I just got The Criterion Channel and they have a good selection. I haven't watched everything but I like everything that I have seen so far. I do like that he wasn't shy about male nudity and showing some very interesting images and a view into some unique lives.

Oct 14, 2022 · Pay for and no commercials. It's a cable/satellite channel but it's usually a "basic cable" channel so it's included with the lowest cost package. Tho some providers do put in it a more costly channel grouping, it's not a "premium" cost channel like HBO. It's one of the few, if perhaps the only, "basic cable" channel that doesn't have commercials.

It's a list reflecting the tastes of an old Italian-American Catholic man with intellectual pretensions, who came of age in the 1950s. He could have thrown in an unpredictable choice or two. Also showing "Hiroshima, Mon Amour" and "Godzilla" for the whole Atomic bomb grand tour experience!
Jul 2, 2021 · If that’s even what the hold-up is—who knows, it might just fan speculation, that Warner is so scandalized by this movie and too ashamed to re-release it, uncut. When it plays on The Criterion Channel, it’s in “standard definition,” which actually looks WORSE than DVD quality. I wish they wouldn’t even bother.
