Mar 7, 2017 · Town of Salem has 30 unique roles ensuring a different experience each time you play. Before a game starts, players are put into a lobby where the host can select what roles will be in the game. Players are then assigned roles at random from the list of chosen roles.

There are currently 35 roles in Town of Salem, separated into 3 categories: Town, Mafia, and Neutral. These include 8 unique roles.
Users who own Town of Salem - The Coven have 50 roles to play with, 19 which are unique. This expansion includes the Coven faction, extra Town roles, and special Neutral roles.
The Town roles each have one goal: "Lynch every criminal and evildoer." Those evildoers include the Mafia, Neutral Killing, Neutral Chaos (except Pirate), the Coven, and Witches.
The Mafia all share a common goal: "Kill anyone who will not submit to the Mafia." These include any members of the Town, any members of the Coven, any Neutral Killings, and any Neutral Chaos roles, minus the Pirate.
The Neutral roles each have different goals, and some of those are compatible with the goals of the other teams, meaning that some of these roles are able to win alongside them. It's worth checking the goal descriptions to see who you can potentially ally with as a Neutral.
The Coven, similar to the Mafia, share a common goal: "Kill all those who would oppose the Coven." This includes members of the Town, Mafia, all Neutral Killing, Vampires, the Plaguebearer, and Pestilence.

•Becoming a certain role is entirely up to chance, depending on the list of your game mode. Scrolls allow you to increase the chance of becoming a certain role.
•The ideas for the Forger, Vampire, Werewolf, Hypnotist and Necromancer roles were originally suggested by the community.

In a set role list, there is a Jailor. If people ask for Jailor CC?, they want to know if anybody else claims Jailor.
