Northwest Region Office. Tzu Chi’s Northwest Region chapter first began by one woman as the San Jose Service Center in 1993 where the Region Office is currently based. We provide wildfire relief, especially due to the latest catastrophic fires in the area, as well as flood relief.
Determined to relieve their suffering, Tzu Chi began providing medical care to the poor. In Chinese, “tzu” means compassion, and “chi” means relief. Since then, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation has evolved its care into an international medical mission.
Tzu Chi USA has been delivering relief with compassion and care for over 34 years, serving survivors of disasters and those who fall below the poverty line, providing cash cards, essential supplies, and more while striving to build a better world for all.
