And, as Druhm points out in his reviews, the keyboards have a John Tesh -like ambiance that can take you out of your metal mindset. The bass is also problematic. Jul 2, 2024 · "Passion of Dionysus" is probably the best Virgin Steele album since Visions of Eden, maybe even better than that. The fact that singer David DeFeis doesn't have the vocal power as in the 90s should have become known by now - 40 years of heavy metal just leaves its traces. But he has learned to deal with the limitations and adapts his singing.
The Passion of Dionysus is the fifteenth album by New York heavy/power metal group Virgin Steele, released via SPV/Steamhammer worldwide on June 30, 2023. The concept album tells the story of the Greek god Dionysus and his coming to Thebes to avenge the slander of his mother how it is described in Euripides ' tragic play, The Bacchae .
