DeFeis guested on an Eternal Winter track in 2020 and he's still doing the auto-tuned, ad-libbed style from the couple of recent albums. I can't imagine the voice is suddenly going to change. If so, this is a hard-pass for me.

Yet the band has changed again and again in the 40+ years of its existence: Raw heavy metal in the 80s, short excursions towards glam rock, brilliant power metal in the 90s and increasingly esoteric-progressive-symphonic stuff in the 21st century.

It is neither a USPM classic nor a grand glorious affair like many a Virgin Steele album. In fact, it has aged rather horribly and sounds all the more bashfully archaic for it. Thankfully, it knows its place. It may have no standing in the wider spectrum of things, but boy, does it rock with all its might.
