Feb 16, 2023 · I’m not sure where the English title “Wall Engravings” comes from. The French title, “Au pan coupe’” is much more evocative, both in the idea of something “cut off” (a life, a relationship), but also acknowledging that it is the “cutting” of the film that carries all the meaning.
