Im still reading iron flame (77% done) but My understanding is that the metal being used for the weapons is so strong that not even dragon fire can melt it to be be made into weapons. The luminary amplifies the dragon fire to make it even stronger, to melt down the alloy and make the weapons. I pictured it kind of like a magnifying glass.
