- Mother Focus represents a change of pace and direction more than anything else, but in quite an average way, especially by Focus' standards. Jul 5, 2021 · I loved the excitement and daring of Moving Waves and Hamburger Concerto, and was not prepared for the smooth jazz of Mother Focus. Now, over four decades later, I find this album to be outstanding early morning music.

It’s not a super impressive album that will get a high rating, but it’s a good album that’s nice, melodic, and very laid back. Out of all the 70’s prog rock albums I’ve listened to, this one definitely stands out in its own unique way.
