Nov 2, 2023 · Correction. I recently, unwittingly, stepped across a threshold and tipped into a state of liminality, a condition that is manifesting as prolonged, confusing, and fraught with grief. The word threshold evokes the idea of a single point of transition—a doorway, for instance—so it doesn’t really capture the uncontained delirium of change.
