The purpose of the Mobs mod above is to introduce a wide range of loyal pets to Minecraft. They are mostly dogs and cats with cute appearances.
Animania is an immersive mod that replaces and improves the passive animals in Minecraft, adding multiple breeds, genders, new behaviors, and several new species. Please note that this mod is still new (so there are bugs).
So yeah, I'm trying to find some mods that add animals in, but still preserve the more fantasy feel of minecraft. Check the first part (Animal Mods) of my comment here. Obviously disregard the Mo'Creatures bullet point. You won't like Animania either, as it replaces the default Minecraft livestock with more detailed/realistic models.
