Kekaha Kai State Park is a beach park with big waves on the day we visited. It is located along the north Kona coast on the island of Hawaiʻi. The park's name originates from the Hawaiian language words ke kaha kai which translate to "the shore line" in English. The northern section of the park is on Maniniʻowali Bay.
Kekaha Kai is north of the Keahole Airport about 4 or 5 miles, just before you get to the turnoff to Kukio, the Four Seasons, and the Kona Village. It is a picturesque beach, and I have caught plenty of kupipi, mamo, weke, and humuhumu there. so the fishing is actually quite good on an incoming tide, near the peak tide.
