The Atari 7800 port looks terrific, and plays just like it did on the original arcade cabinet. It’s a definite must-own on Atari’s third machine. 6. Commando (1989) If rather than a cerebral maze game you’d rather hone your reflexes in the chaos of war, then the acclaimed Commando is the way to go.
- Xevious (1987) Xevious is the best Atari 7800 game of all time! As well as being one of those games that’s hard to pronounce, is another influential title in the shoot-em-up genre.
- Centipede (1986) Up next is Centipede, another fixed shooter that made waves during the golden age of arcade gaming. Centipede features on so many different consoles that it’s hard to keep count, and it remains a firm favourite throughout the Atari home console family.
- Pole Position II (1987) It’s amazing how much clearer Pole Position II is compared to the original Pole Position game on the 2600 and 5200. The tracks are defined, the mountains look real, and the cars actually look like cars!
- One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird (1987) It’s hard to ever imagine EA as being in financial difficulty, but it happened, and One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird helped to get them out of it.

Jan 3, 2022 · 2. Food Fight - Everybody that owns a 7800 should have Food Fight. 1. Midnight Mutants - I’ve beaten this game about a half dozen times and I’ll beat it a half dozen more. And that’s it. I wrote and rewrote this ranking about 4 times and this is how I would definitively rank the library.
