    • DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing (Switch) Unless you're one of the biggest DreamWorks fans on the planet, you'll struggle to fall in love with DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing.
    • Race With Ryan (Switch) Putting our opinion on the cynical Ryan phenomenon to one side, Race With Ryan is nevertheless a slightly below-average kart racer that handles reasonably well but generally underwhelms, from the pitifully small number of tracks to the uninspired, floaty-light weaponry.
    • Hello Kitty Kruisers (Switch) We like Hello Kitty as much as the next person but unless the next person's seven years old, they're not going to be able to squeeze much fun out of Hello Kitty Kruisers.

Make no bones about it: the best kart racing game on Switch is of course Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The newest game in the long-running Mario Kart series sees many famous Nintendo faces come together in the ultimate road battle. It’s fast, it’s furious, it’s dirty – but it’s a heck of a lot of fun. Mario Kart is basically the blueprint that other kart ra...

Oh yes, even the Smurfs have their own karting game! Exclusive to Switch, Smurfs Kart is a family friendly, colourful karting game that, unsurprisingly, sees players take control of the Smurfs as they race around in their own individual karts. With powers to collect and boosts to be earned by drifting around the corners, it doesn’t do much to diffe...

A remake of the classic PS1 game, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled brings Crash Bandicoot and friends to the world of competitive kart racing. It’s a beautiful looking game; somehow managing to be exactly what you remember the original being, but way more pretty. More importantly, it’s a heck of a lot of fun to play. Taking you through iconic locatio...

There’s only one video game character as iconic as Mario, and that’s Sonic. So if the plumber’s got his own karting game, it’s only right that the blue hedgehog does too. Team Sonic Racing isn’t the first time Sonic has been out on the tracks, but it is the newest – and probably the best yet. As the name may suggest, Team Sonic Racing‘s focus is on...

Remember Tommy from Rugrats? What about Helga fromHey Arnold? Or Patrick and Spongebob Squarepants?Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2brings together some of your favourite Nicktoons characters and drops them in a hectic, fast-paced karting game. Unlike the other titles that make up this list of best kart racing games on Switch, Beach Buggy Racing doesn’t rely on familiar faces or existing licenses. It’s entirely its own thing, with colourfully-designed karts and kooky characters. But just because you don’t already know the characters behind the wheel doesn’t mean that Beach Buggy Racing is...

For younger players, Race With Ryan is undoubtedly one of the best kart racing games on Switch. It features Ryan, of Ryan’s World YouTube fame, and his animal friends, as they race through a bunch of bright and colourful tracks. Is it the best karting game ever made? Of course not. But for little kids, particularly those who eat up Ryan’s YouTube c...

Remember that time the Final Fantasy franchise entered the kart racing space? Of course you do: it wasn’t that long ago. Chocobo GP isn’t the best kart racing game on Switch, but it’s more than decent, particularly if you’re a fan of Final Fantasy and like the idea of seeing some familiar faces popping up. There’s a free version of the game availab...

    • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) Let's get the most obvious and essential Switch racing game out of the way first. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe delivers a huge amount of racing goodness right out of the box, and it's a polished version of a Wii U entry that was only a proper Battle Mode away from being top of class.
    • Fast RMX (Switch eShop) FAST RMX is as good as the Wii U original and then some. Updated visuals, more tracks, more vehicles; it was an utterly outstanding launch title for the Switch and it holds up very well to this day, keeping the futuristic high-speed racing game alive in the absence of F-Zero.
    • Hotshot Racing (Switch eShop) If the look of Hotshot Racing appeals to you and you can appreciate the aesthetic delights of something that looks deliberately low-fi and polygonal, the action it offers on the track does an excellent job of backing up the game's style with substance.
    • SEGA AGES Out Run (Switch eShop) This is about as essential a retro release as you can get. An inspiration for the excellent Horizon Chase Turbo further down the page (although the Top Gear games are arguably a bigger influence there), Out Run may lack modern spit polish but it has always been an infinitely playable game, and the new unlockables and online rankings only increase its longevity further.
  2. Jul 18, 2023 · From Burnout to Grid to retro legends like Out Run and of course Mario Kart, these are the finest racing games available for Switch owners.

    • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017) After the Super Mario Kart release in the early 90s, many other games were added to the series, keeping it fresh for over 30 years.

The classic game, which was originally developed by Naughty Dog, became an instant hit among PlayStation 1 players when it was released in 1999 due to its addictive gameplay and well-designed maps.
    • Disney Speedstorm (2023) Disney Speedstorm is Disney’s latest contribution to the arcade racing genre. Currently available for purchase in early access, the game is expected to go free-to-play by the beginning of 2024.
    • Blur (2010) Last decade while many racing games would copy either Need for Speed or Mario Kart, Blur came out with an interesting idea: why not both?
