The Trustee shall: Regard the well-being of every student as their primary obligation and always perform with that in mind. Make decisions based on the needs of all children, regardless of their ability, race, gender, sexual orientation, belief, socio-economic status, or support needs.
School Board trustees collectively and individually have a public duty to carry out their responsibilities and the work of the Board in good faith and with reasonable diligence. A Trustee’s fiduciary duties are owed to the school Board which is, in turn, accountable to the electorate.
Trustees engage their communities in building and maintaining a school system that reflects local priorities, values and strategic goals. School trustees listen to their communities, guide the work of their school district and set plans, policies and the annual budget.
Trustees shall respect the role of the Chair of the Board in accordance with Board policy, the Board’s Organizational By-Law and the provisions outlined in The Public Schools Act.
