With Caves & Cliffs: Part I released, we’re currently hard at work at delivering the second chapter of the update. World generation features previously available in our beta program, such as the new world height, new mountains, and new cave generation, are now available in Minecraft Bedrock version 1.17.10!
You can access these features by enabling the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle in an existing or new world. A guide on how to enable the toggle can be found here.

Terrain, cave, and biome generation has been completely overhauled. The height limit and depth limit have both been increased by 64 blocks. There is now natural variation in terrain shape and elevation independently from biomes. New mountain biomes and cave biomes have been added. Cave biomes generate naturally underground and inside mountains.

Players who upgrade their old worlds will also find that the y0 bedrock layer below existing chunks is replaced by deepslate, with new caves and biomes generating underneath!
