Jul 31, 2021 · ZED, short for Zonal Employee Discount, is a set of agreements between hundreds of partner airlines that allow their employees to book discounted plane tickets on each other’s aircraft. Put simply, an airline employee (and sometimes their guests) can buy discounted tickets on another airline as long as the two airlines have a ZED agreement in place.
A lot of times on short routes the tax is more than the fare. There are 5 types of ZEDs that I can think of: ZL ZM ZH VAL and SF.. Zed Low, Medium, High, Value and service fee. The airlines come to an agreement together to choose how much to charge each other’s employees. Once you get to ZH, it can get pricey.

Zonal Employee Discount fares are what we have now. "ID90s" went away years ago. (Now it is a for-profit travel site marketing to airlines and non-revs). When in MyIDtravel, the agreements tab will tell you what you can officially get. If your airline has no premium class agreement, you can only book economy.
Here’s what I paid for some destinations on a ZED fare on airlines not my own: JFK-WAW on Lot Polish Airlines: $225 round trip (business class over, main cabin back) JFK-AMS on Delta: $229 round trip (premium select going over, Delta 1 coming back) I thought those were great prices until I went to a legacy. OMG- legacy prices are incredible.

Does anyone have any experience trying to fly around Europe under the ZED system (this is discounted fare system for airline employees who wish to standby for available seats). I need to get from London to Berlin, or from Frankfort of Munich to Berlin.

Sep 9, 2021 · Under the ZED Multilateral Interline Business Agreement (MIBA) Forum, more than 175 global carriers offer discount fares under a multilateral agreement. Airlines that participate can offer Low, Medium, or High fares on a space-available or positive space basis. They can also offer ZED travel in economy or premium classes.
