Covered California for Veterans If a veteran is not eligible for VA health benefits, or his or her family is not eligible, they may be able to purchase health insurance through Covered California or get coverage through Medi-Cal. The Veterans Homes of California range in size from 60 residents on 20+ acre campuses to over 1,000 residents on a 500 acre campus. Each home offers a unique environment, levels of care, and a range of social activities.
However, you may purchase a Covered California health plan at full cost. If you are eligible for VA health coverage but not currently enrolled, you may still be eligible for premium assistance or cost-sharing reductions through Covered California as long as you meet other eligibility requirements.
