When the lights flash green and red, enter your four-digit PIN, which will be emailed to your VT email prior to your arrival. Upon successful entry of your PIN, the door will unlock. You can set your own PIN once you arrive to campus through the laundry portal.

Setting/Resetting Your Pin. 1. Connect to the campus network. 2. Visit the Online Services menu on our front page and select "Set/Reset Pin". 3. Login with PID/PID password and complete 2-Factor Authentication. 4. Select "Set PIN" from left-hand menu.
Once registered, click ‘Set PIN’ in the Menu, and set a new PIN. NOTE: This is the PIN that will open your room door. If you have one set already, you should use that PIN.

According to Virginia Tech Police, almost all thefts in the residence halls occur because a door was left unlocked. To keep you and your things safe, always remember to lock your door, even if you only leave for a moment. You should always carry your Hokie Passport when you leave your room.

Remember, you'll need your 4-digit PIN to open the door, which was emailed to your vt.edu email account prior to your move-in timeslot. First, swipe your card in front of the door, and it will blink red-green red-green. Then, enter your PIN, and the door will unlock.
