Cite your source automatically in Chicago style. Titles of websites should follow headline-style capitalization and are usually set in roman without quotation marks. Sections of a website, such as a specific header, an individual page, a single blog entry, etc. should be written in roman with quotation marks.
Chicago style in-line citations use the author’s last name and the year of publication in parentheses. Normally in Chicago style author-date citations also list the page numbers, but since we’re dealing with electronic sources you can omit them.
Chicago-style source citations come in two varieties: (1) notes and bibliography and (2) author-date. If you already know which system to use, follow one of the links above to see sample citations for a variety of common sources.
Citations are placed in footnotes or endnotes, with a Chicago style bibliography listing your sources in full at the end. Author-date style is mainly used in the sciences. It uses parenthetical in-text citations, always accompanied by a reference list at the end.
Website citations should include: author, title, owner or sponsor of the site, date of publication, modification or revision and URL . The title of a website is not put in quotation marks and is not italicized unless it is also the title of a book.
