I played calamity melee and put half the effort into beating the game then i did with the other classes I've played. I played every class and melee was the most fun for me. melee for sure. mage or rogue. I think it depends on what you actually consider fun.

Melee: Good for defense but dies so easily and hard to kill bosses that retreat. Ranger: Good for range but almost no damage and constant worry for ammo. Mage: Good damage and range but annoying for mana potions.
