- Commando 9. Mozzie's assault rifle is one of the most comfortable weapons ever in Rainbow Six Siege. Thanks to its pretty minimal vertical recoil, Commando 9 is quite easy to control even if you hold down the trigger longer than you should.
- MP7. If you want high damage and fire rate at the same time, MP7 is the best SMG you can find for that purpose, but in return, you also need to overcome the crazy vertical recoil.
- ALDA 5.56. This hidden gem is the only machine gun in this list and yet it is more capable than most SMGs and ARs in the list. Maestro's Alda 5.56 is a killing machine on the defender side with a DPS rate that equals some of the best attacker weapons.
- UZK50GI. Similar to Mozzie's Commando 9, Thorn's UZK50GI also has a minimal vertical recoil that you can learn to control quite fast. The only thing that makes this weapon stand beneath Commando 9 is the lower fire rate which reduces the amount of damage dealt per second significantly.

- ACS12 (Best for close to medium range) Like the TCSG12 above, the ACS12 is classified as a shotgun but fires a single slug per shot, and that’s why it’s also basically like a rifle.
- TCSG12 (Best for medium to long range) The TCSG12 is basically a Defender marksman rifle, although it’s classified as a shotgun, it is a single-slug firing shotgun, and can be equipped with a 2.0x scope, so for all intents and purposes, it’s a sniper rifle.
- Luison (Best for close range) Caveria’s unique handgun. It comes with a custom suppressor, and one can imagine that it was Cav herself who made it. Each shot it makes is very silent and is hard to hear unless you’re near Cav.
- DP27 (Best for close to medium range) Reworked Tachanka’s unique gun. Although admittedly, I miss Lord Chanka’s original special gadget, the DP27 that we have right now is also great since Tachanka is able to carry it around wherever he goes and its high destructive power per shot can easily create rotation holes which are very important in Ranked matches.
- ACS12 Shotgun. The ACS12 shotgun remains as the best defender gun because it’s basically a whole package. It’s a single slug firing shotgun, meaning that even though it’s a shotgun, it can score headshots and damage opponents even at long range.
- P90 Submachine Gun. The P90 submachine gun used to be one of the most ignored weapons in the game. Heck, there was a time that you could even get flamed by your teammates by choosing to run with the P90 instead of the MP5 when playing Doc or Rook.

Meta picks for guns on defense right now. Lesion, no acog but the t-5 is the best “easy to use” smg in the game. His ability is insane too. Wamai, decent gun with acog and 2 speed plus a helpful ability if used correctly. Goyo, really good gun with acog but hard to control, and he’s 2 speed with a good set and forget ability.
