Feb 9, 2022 · A full analysis of the images and video, published on Feb. 9, 2022, in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, is adding to scientists’ understanding of the planet likened as Earth’s twin. NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has taken its first visible light images of the surface of Venus from space.
Nov 4, 2024 · On Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, NASA’s Parker Solar Probe will complete its final Venus gravity assist maneuver, passing within 233 miles (376 km) of Venus’ surface. The flyby will adjust Parker’s trajectory into its final orbital configuration, bringing the spacecraft to within an unprecedented 3.86 million miles of the solar surface on Dec ...
Nov 6, 2024 · The Parker Solar Probe is gearing up for a final swing past Venus on November 6, which will nudge it into an extremely tight orbit around our sun. Once it reaches its final position around...
Aug 12, 2018 · The probe performed a gravity assist at Venus to help draw its orbit closer to the Sun. Unlike most gravity assists, which help a spacecraft pick up speed, Parker slowed down so that it could swing closer to the Sun. In all, Parker Solar Probe will perform seven Venus gravity assists during its mission.
May 3, 2021 · During a brief swing by Venus, NASA’s Parker Solar Probe detected a natural radio signal that revealed the spacecraft had flown through the planet’s upper atmosphere. This was the first direct measurement of the Venusian atmosphere in nearly 30 years — and it looks quite different from Venus past.
Nov 7, 2024 · Parker will send a beacon tone on December 27, 2024, to confirm its success and the spacecraft’s health. Parker will remain in this orbit for the remainder of its mission, completing two more ...
