Formed in response to the new comparative philology practised by a handful of scholars on the Continent in the 1820s, the original Philological Society held the first in a series of informal meetings at London University in the early 1830s.
The series is called Publications of the Philological Society and is currently edited by the Publications Secretary (Monographs). All current members of PhilSoc are entitled to electronic access to all the publications in this series since 2016.
