- It studied the planet's complex dynamics and chemistry, and the interactions between the atmosphere and the surface, which provided clues about the surface’s characteristics. It also studied the interactions between the atmosphere and the interplanetary environment (solar wind) to better understand the evolution of the planet.

Nov 9, 2005 · Venus Express was ESA's first spacecraft to study our nearest planetary neighbour. In particular, it investigated the noxious atmosphere and clouds in detail and made global maps of the planet’s surface temperatures.
Oct 10, 2008 · Venus Express took its first image of Earth with its Visible and Infrared Thermal Imaging Spectrometer (VIRTIS) soon after its launch in November 2005.
Nov 10, 2020 · On 5 November 2002, ESA gave the go-ahead to proceed with Venus Express, and only three years later the aptly named spacecraft began its journey toward the second planet from the Sun. Why Venus? Venus was the first planet to be explored by a spacecraft sent from Earth.
Sep 8, 2019 · This set of results from Venus Express come from data collected during the first orbit around Venus, the highly elliptical capture orbit. Observations were made at different distances from Venus, for a few hours each time on six different slots between 12 and 19 April 2006.
