Nov 9, 2005 · In Depth: Venus Express. ESA's Venus Express was designed to study the atmosphere of Venus, its plasma environment and surface characteristics from a 24-hour near-polar elliptical orbit. The spacecraft was launched by a Soyuz-FG/Fregat combination owned by Starsem, a French company which markets a European version of the Russian Soyuz.

Venus Express. Venus Express (VEX) was the first Venus exploration mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). Launched in November 2005, it arrived at Venus in April 2006 and began continuously sending back science data from its polar orbit around Venus. Equipped with seven scientific instruments, the main objective of the mission was the long ...
Jan 3, 2020 · Venus Express was the European Space Agency's first mission to Venus, the second planet from the sun. The 2,800-pound spacecraft spent eight years circling the shrouded planet, watching long-term ...
Nov 9, 2005 · Venus Express was launched from the Russian Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 9 November 2005, using a Soyuz-Fregat launcher. It arrived at Venus on 11 April 2006 for a nominal mission of 500 days. After more than eight years of operations, the spacecraft exhausted its propellant in November 2014 and could no longer maintain its orbit.
The name Venus Express comes from the short time to define, prepare and launch the mission. It will take less than three years from the approval to the launch of the mission. To do this, ESA re-used the same design as the Mars Express mission and the same industrial teams that worked on that mission. What are the mission objectives?
Nov 20, 2015 · The ESA/Venus Express mission spent more than 8 years in orbit around Venus to extensively study its atmosphere, ionosphere and plasma environment and unveil new aspects of its surface. Extensive reviews of the work of Venus Express are underway, to cover in-depth studies of the new face of Venus revealed by Venus Express and ground-based concurrent observations. This paper intends to give a ...
