Sep 15, 2022 · Lay aside the pride, selfishness, worldliness, and passivity that devour what God has given you. Liberate your gifts from the cul-de-sacs that suppress them. Identify something you do well by God’s grace, and ask him to help you find a need to meet.
Dec 23, 2013 · If you church-hop in this moment, you lose. You lose the opportunity to mature in your faith (Ephesians 4:15). You lose the opportunity to be apart of others coming to know the Lord.

And then things start to go haywire. He says, “Every time I sin, I feel like my eternal rewards slip from my fingers. I can never get ahead, always returning back to a balance of zero.” Now, in this way of talking, I think he revealed a serious mistake in his understanding of the Bible. The mistake seems to be this: rewards are given — he would say...
Let’s start with Matthew 10:41–42: There’s no hint here that if, later in the day, after you give the cup of cold water to a disciple because you love his Christ-exalting ministry, you speak harshly, say, to your child — there’s no hint, I say, that you will therefore lose your reward for the good deed of giving a drink of water to the disciple. It...
Or consider 1 Corinthians 3:13–15: Now, what’s plain here is that fire is not an accountant. Fire is not counting up numbers of good deeds and bad deeds, or in this case, solid teachings and useless teachings (I think that’s the context of what good deeds he’s talking about). Fire doesn’t work that way, right? It doesn’t count; fire doesn’t count. ...
Or consider Ephesians 6:8: “Whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free.” There’s no mention here that he really won’t receive back for doing the good deed if there are more bad deeds. Or consider Luke 14:13–14: “When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,...
Here’s the principle behind this way of thinking: good works in the life of a Christian are rewarded because they are beautiful, and their beauty is owing to the beauty of God’s regenerating and sanctifying grace in the life of the Christian. We are able to do what is truly good only because God caused us to be born again — made us spiritually aliv...

- Can a saved person ever be lost? Can you lose your salvation after you’ve become a Christian? No. But you can lose the joy of it, can't you? You can lose the productiveness of it.
- I’ve drifted away from Christ. How do I get back? Drifting is always moving away from something rather than moving toward something. We don’t drift toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord, we drift away.
- I’ve always wanted salvation, but I never made a commitment to Christ. Am I saved? If we haven’t made that decision to come to faith in Christ, binding our hearts to Him, we may be floating all around so close to it that it’s almost like we were saved.
- What can I do to be victorious in my Christian life? Don't ever forget that the ambition of the devil for all of us is to keep us away from the Word of God because if he does that, he's won the battle.
May 16, 2018 · 1. Your Calling Is Not for You. No doubt each person is called and gifted individually, but a true understanding of calling recognizes that we’re called not for mere personal gratification but for the good of others (Rom. 12:4–5; 1 Cor. 12:12–31; 1 Pet. 4:10–11).

Feb 19, 2018 · By such a deliberate, continued, settled pattern of sin, you can profane the blood of the covenant by which you were sanctified. Which sounds like, “Oh, well, he was saved. But now he’s beyond forgiveness. So you can lose your salvation.” There are two passages in Hebrews that keep me from going there. Lost and Found
