Don't Lose Your Song. Psalm 137:1-9. Singing can be done as an expression of sorrow. The 'Blues' and much of country music depend upon this concept. But when we find singing in the Scripture it is usually pointing to times of rejoicing. It is also connected with our worship toward God.

Oh, that we could reason less about our troubles, and sing and praise more!
But when we get out of the pit, we want to sing a new song: a song of praise to the living God. Living life inevitably brings pits—slimy, watery, sticky pits. We cannot escape them under our own power, wit, or wisdom.
