The Meaning of Hebrews 10:26-27. Print Post. In this video I’m going to answer the question: According to the book of Hebrews, can you lose your salvation by willfully sinning? Many, many Christians believe that Hebrews chapter 10 says that you can. Really? Let’s look into it.
Answer. No, a Christian cannot lose their salvation because Romans 11:29 says, “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” This means that God’s gift of eternal life is permanent and cannot be taken away, lost, or forfeited.
- Can a saved person ever be lost? Can you lose your salvation after you’ve become a Christian? No. But you can lose the joy of it, can't you? You can lose the productiveness of it.
- I’ve drifted away from Christ. How do I get back? Drifting is always moving away from something rather than moving toward something. We don’t drift toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord, we drift away.
- I’ve always wanted salvation, but I never made a commitment to Christ. Am I saved? If we haven’t made that decision to come to faith in Christ, binding our hearts to Him, we may be floating all around so close to it that it’s almost like we were saved.
- What can I do to be victorious in my Christian life? Don't ever forget that the ambition of the devil for all of us is to keep us away from the Word of God because if he does that, he's won the battle.
If salvation is determined by one instant of earnest, complete believing, then perhaps salvation cannot be lost, but if salvation is understood to be an ongoing relationship between an earnest believer and his God, then it is possible to lose salvation by losing the relationship.

As Ephesians 2:4-5puts it: Being chosen in Christ and ...
Again and again, God makes it very clear that he will keep and preserve every true believer. In John 6:39-40, Jesus speaks these sweet words of comfort: God has given believers to Jesus. I belong to him, he owns me, and he is very possessive of me. He doesn’t play fast and loose with his people. Jesus himself has promised that on that final day, wh...
In Philippians 1:6, Paul says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” There was more dysfunction in Paul’s churches than most reality television shows. The Corinthians were getting pasted at the Lord’s Supper, the Galatians were on the verge of abandoning the gospel, the...
Of course, this does raise a rather sticky question: what about the passages of scripture that seem to warn against falling away? For example, Hebrews 6:4-6says: That sure makes it seems like I can fall away from Christ after being saved. It sounds like I can lose my salvation. So what am I supposed to make of these passages? First, I have to ackno...
Are we called to work out our salvation with fear and trembling? Yes. But can you lose your salvation? No. That’s such sweet news to me, because if I could lose it, I already would have. Charles Spurgeonhelpfully puts it this way: Read Next: 1. Am I REALLY Prone To Wander? 2. How Exactly Are We Supposed To Take Every Thought Captive? 3. How To Pray...
