If a = b, then a + c = b + c. This property states that adding the same amount to both members of an equation preserves the equality. A property that states that for any number x, x + 0 = x, zero is the additive identity. For any number x, there exists a number −x, such that x + −x= 0.
We calculate the average by adding up all the values, then divide by how many values. Example: What is the average of 9, 2, 12 and 5? Add up all the values: 9 + 2 + 12 + 5 = 28.
