Peer review has been a common instructional approach in middle and high school English classes since the 1980s and is considered a key element of process approaches to writing (Atwell, 1987; Graham & Perin, 2007; Hillocks, 1984).
By understanding and further developing the role of peer review in effective feedback, educators can adjust their approach to peer review on a more individual level to provide their students a quality writing experience in a secondary school setting.
