A worship leader should encourage an attitude of thanksgiving. Along with an attitude of praise as preparation for worship. The order described in Psalm 100:4 of the Bible says.
- Vocal Skills. This may seem obvious, but great worship leaders are skilled singers. Their voices are pleasing to the ear and tend to bless and inspire those within earshot.
- Musical Skills. Although worship leaders do not have to lead from an instrument to be successful, at least possessing a basic understanding of music theory can make a big difference as they lead a band through a worship set.
- Communication Skills. At first glance, you wouldn’t think that being a great communicator would have anything to do with leading worship. In fact, from the moment you are scheduled to lead a worship set, you will be called upon to communicate clearly, and filter information into an appropriate worship experience for all stakeholders.
Rule Number One:The Worship Leader must worship God with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. Prepare the heart. In preparing the heart to lead worship, a vision for worship is essential. My prayer is that by now your vision for worship has expanded beyond a “song service.”. We must have a vision of His majesty.
Love for God is foundational for a worship leader. Many people would say that another word for the term worship is love, adoration, or passion. Worship leaders need to have an understanding of what it means to love God because it plays out into how we worship. It is essentially impossible for us to worship God without love for Him.

Jan 29, 2020 · As worship leaders, what is our purpose? We are told in Romans 12:1-2 that we are to “present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”. We are told not to conform to the ways of the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind in order to discern the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
