  2. Jan 9, 2015 · So apparently people making Christian parodies of pop songs is a thing. Here’s 12 examples. You’re welcome? “Cletus, Take the Reel” (“Jesus, Take the Wheel”) “What Does God Say” (“What Does the Fox Say?”)

    • “All About That Christ” (Parody of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”) With this we see what will be a recurring theme in these, in which the line between vanity project and Christian message gets a little blurry.
    • “Save Me” (Parody of Justin Bieber’s “Baby”) Honestly, nothing but love for these guys. They look like they’re having a great time and put just about the right amount of effort into this for it to feel sort of …wholesome?
    • “Modest Ladies” (Parody of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”) Pretty dire, no two ways about it. In the immediate wake of “Single Ladies” there was no shortage of parodies — many of them pretty cringe — but “modest” isn’t a close slant rhyme to “single” and, hey, the song is already about a woman telling her man he should have locked her down when he had the chance.
    • “Put It Off” (Parody of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”) Alright, what this one actually reveals is what a unicorn Taylor’s original version is because absent her mega wattage personality there’s just not a lot going on in this song and you can’t really blame the team here for how long it all feels.
    • Jesse Carey
    • “Baby Got Book” Finally, a song about a biblical devotion parodying a song about butts. Based on: “Baby Got Back” – Sir Mix A Lot. Most Awkward Line: “That books makes … me so Holy”
    • “Church Signs” At least this one seems to have a degree of self-awareness and irony considering the entire message of the video is making fun of church signs.
    • “Holy Spirit Funk” Ironically, it’s not even close to the most awkward Christian video devoted to not having sex before marriage. Based on: “Uptown Funk” – Bruno Mars.
    • “Thrift Shop” (Christian Remix) This Macklemore parody appears to be mostly tongue and cheek, making fun of church stereotypes and insider church culture.

  6. Apr 27, 2024 · "Only through trusting what God says about us can we have true freedom from the lies others tell us and the lies we tell ourselves. And what does God tell us? As we place our faith in the finished work of Christ, the Father sees us and says, 'you are my beloved child in whom I am well pleased.'"
