You'll notice that few people bother saying obvious things like "water is wet" or "grass is green". The obvious things they mention (like the weather and how they feel about it) is a way to 1/ vent how they feel and 2/ relate to the group, I guess.
When I try to be an active participant in a conversation and I make a comment, I oftentimes get responses which call me out over stating something obvious. For example, I'd say stuff like "wow, that's so stupid," "wow, that's so weird," "wow, that makes me uncomfortable."
