Mar 14, 2024 · The book of Acts shows how God essentially took a group of fisherman and commoners and used them to turn the world upside down (Acts 17:6). God took a Christian-hating murderer and transformed him into history’s greatest Christian evangelist, the author of almost half the books of the New Testament.
The Acts of the Apostles [a] (Koinē Greek: Πράξεις Ἀποστόλων, Práxeis Apostólōn; [2] Latin: Actūs Apostolōrum) is the fifth book of the New Testament; it tells of the founding of the Christian Church and the spread of its message to the Roman Empire.
- The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
- Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen
- To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God

The Book of Acts is a fast-moving historical account of the first three decades of the church. Acts begins in Jerusalem just after Jesus' resurrection, recounts how the Gospel reached what are Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, and Malta today, and closes with the apostle Paul's two year ministry in Rome.
The book begins with the Ascension of Jesus and goes on through Paul’s jail time in Rome, which opens his ministry to the church at Rome. In this book we see the first mention of the dispensation of the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ command to take His gospel to all the world.
