- Knowing the Terms. But before we dig in to the ores themselves, there are some key terms you need to know about, as they are factors that play a major role within ore generation and can help form a strategy to mining.
- Coal. Coal generates in two batches. The first is a triangular distribution between heights 0 and 192, and is 50% buried. The second batch generates higher up in a uniform distribution between heights 136 and 320.
- Copper. Copper can generate in large ore veins, mixed with granite above Y=0. These ore veins can yield a lot of copper and even sometimes a raw copper block.

The height and depth of Minecraft’s world have been increased now, allowing for more opportunities for mining and building. Caves in Minecraft 1.18 stretch all the way down to Y level 64, while the world build limit has now been pushed to a whopping 320 blocks high.
Ore veins have been increased in length, thus generating more ore in one chain. Also, the heights or depths at which certain ores start to generate have been changed as well. Also, certain ores can be mixed with other blocks while generating. For example, iron ore can be mixed with tuff or raw iron blocks while attempting to generate.

Dec 9, 2021 · We’re now releasing Minecraft: Java Edition 1.18.1. This release fixes a critical security issue for multiplayer servers, changes how the world fog works to make more of the world visible, and fixes a couple of other bugs.
Minecraft now uses Java version 17. If you are using a default setup, the Launcher will download and install the correct version. If you are using a custom Java setup, or a third-party launcher, you will need to ensure that your Java installation is version 17 or above.
