When the local IP and port are found, type them into the "Server Address" field (under either Direct Connect or in the Add Server dialogue), formatted like IP:port (e.g. 192.168.1.1:5000) to join the LAN game. There exists a variant for the Java Edition server.jar, as well as for the Bedrock Edition Bedrock Dedicated Server. Those variants are not compatible, but serve a similar purpose and feature similar syntax.

Jun 5, 2023 · If you want to join an online server, then first, get the address of the server from the server owner – it might look like the name of a website (e.g. “play.mojang.com”), or a string of numbers separated by dots (e.g. “192.168.0.1” – sometimes called an “IP address”).
Find its IP and copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl + C for Windows/Linux and Cmd + C for macOS). The IP address is often a number displayed next to the name of it, or a domain. Start Minecraft, click Multiplayer and click Add Server. There should be two boxes, Server Name and IP Address.
