Oct 16, 2022 · 1.18 did take the fun out of strip mining and if developers weren't happy with previous ore distribution systems then they should've thought about that before releasing them in final builds. If people wanted more punishing ore distribution, that's what custom worlds were for.

Dec 11, 2021 · Uniform distribution means that there is an equal chance of finding an ore anywhere within a height range. This is how most of the ores generated back prior to 1.18. Triangular distribution means the chances of finding the ore increases as you dig towards the center of the height range.
These data values refer to the different types of blocks, items and other features on Java Edition and are used in many places in Minecraft. Block IDs are used to define blocks placed in the world. Item IDs are valid only for items (including items in chests and items dropped in the world).
