  1. Oct 14, 2018 · Because sin, using the flesh, forces us to do things in opposition to God. The flesh needs to be destroyed. But since the flesh is not the same thing as the body, that does *not* mean that the body has to be destroyed. The body has to be redeemed, not destroyed. (See how Paul talks about “flesh” in Romans 6-8)

I am going to do something that I have never done before in more than 25 years of preaching. I am going to dedicate this message to a woman who knows far more than I the meaning and the comfort of Paul’s words in our text. I dedicate this message to Kathie Keathley, who from the founding of the Biblical Studies Foundation has been responsible for p...

18 What is the result? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being proclaimed, and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. 20 My confident hope is that I will in no way be ashamed ...

21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me; yet I don’t know what I prefer: 23 I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, 24 but it is more vital for your sake that I remain in the body. Paul’s s...

25 And since I am sure of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for the sake of your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that because of me you may swell with pride in Christ Jesus, when I come back to you. Paul did have a dilemma. It was the same dilemma I would face if you asked me whether I would prefer a BMW or a Lexus. ...

First, let me conclude this message by pointing out an application to this text to which Paul would say, “God forbid.” Every truth is capable of being distorted in its application, and the truth of Philippians 1:21 is no exception. To die is to gain, when death is the result of our faith and godliness. The same cannot be said for death at our own h...

  2. Jan 4, 2022 · Last, the resurrected body will be a spiritual one. Our natural bodies are suited for living in this world, but this is the only realm in which we can live. “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 15:50). After the resurrection we will have a “spiritual body,” perfectly suited for living in heaven.

  3. 45 The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit. 46 What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. 47 Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven. 48 Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are ...

  4. Romans 8:11. 1. “I believe in the resurrection of the body.”. In spite of that merciless saying of Strauss, “The last enemy which shall be destroyed is the belief of man in his own immortality,” there is no hope which nestles deeper in the human heart, and none which in our day has had more wistful expression. Among a thousand people ...

  5. May 6, 2024 · A Christian does not have the right to use his body to sin intentionally. Jesus Christ paid a high price to redeem believers with His own body and blood (Matthew 26:26–28; Mark 10:45; Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 7:23; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18–19). You are not your own means God purchased you and now possesses ownership of your body. We ...

  7. 2 Corinthians 10-13. Amplified Bible. Paul Describes Himself. 10 Now I, Paul, urge you by the gentleness and graciousness of Christ—I who am meek [so they say] when with you face to face, but bold [outspoken and fearless] toward you when absent! 2 I ask that when I do come I will not be driven to the boldness that I intend to show toward ...
