2-the scarves hide the bulk of the costumes stuffed up underneath. they spin and pull a cord and it drops. 3- the fingers are attached to a device thats secured to her arms. basically the entire length of her forearms is the length the "fingers" can grow. 4- its as simple as a projection, times to the heavy bass sound effect.
The sound design in Harry Potter often seems kinda pew-pew, whereas the LOTR magic sounds very elemental in nature, like it has its own force that every magic draws on, often drowning out or pitch-altering the real-time sounds that you would normally hear, like hoofs or crumbling rock, making it seem like the natural sounds themselves come into contact with the force itself.
