Aurobindo’s education began in a Christian convent school in Darjeeling (Darjiling).

Sri Aurobindo's advanced world vision, the backbone of Auroville, takes one into wider areas relating to the self, and to life. The spiritual path - or sadhana - as developed by him, works with a combination of a voluntarily adopted psychological discipline and various yogic practices.
I believe that this power of spiritual transformation remains permanently in the world, but it was only initiated by Christ and the apostles. What Sri Aurobindo has done is to give a philosophical explanation of this phenomenon and to show how the process of transformation can be 'accelerated' as you say.
