The Empyrean is a jack of all trade’s kind of versatile headphone that has superb bass and vocals. Timbre is on point, and very natural sounding. With the suede pads the soundstage is very wide (not HD800 wide but not too far off either) with acceptable imaging.
Overall sound signature. The Empyrean is tuned for hours upon hour of listening enjoyment independent of the genre or quality of the music you listen to. It’s warm, smooth and laid back, but with plenty sparkle and air up top. Overall it’s a well-balanced, neutral sound signature.
Soundstage wise, the Elites were not too different from the Empyrean but the imaging was a good bit tighter. Tonality might have had a role in these perceived differences as the Elites were a lot less bloated in the bass and lower midrange and were just generally closer the neutral.

Dec 6, 2023 · The Empyrean II can sound more aggressive on the lows with the solid-state mode but the highs also sound a little sharper. The P6 Pro is pushed harder than the other 3 DAPs as it has slightly less power but its Class A amp really comes alive at the top end of the volume dial and does deliver some meaty lows and a nice level of textured detail.
