It would call it more rounded and realistic than the ultra-wide HD800’s staging qualities or the D8000’s low-end prowess with more of a live concert feel and just the right level of instrumental separation and positioning as you would find in a good-sized chamber room.
The Empyrean is a jack of all trade’s kind of versatile headphone that has superb bass and vocals. Timbre is on point, and very natural sounding. With the suede pads the soundstage is very wide (not HD800 wide but not too far off either) with acceptable imaging.
Dec 6, 2023 · The Empyrean II can sound more aggressive on the lows with the solid-state mode but the highs also sound a little sharper. The P6 Pro is pushed harder than the other 3 DAPs as it has slightly less power but its Class A amp really comes alive at the top end of the volume dial and does deliver some meaty lows and a nice level of textured detail.
Dec 6, 2023 · With both using the angled pads, the Empyrean II sounds more articulate and open with a lot more perceived headroom and treble energy. It does sound brighter and more mids to highs focused than the original version using the older Alcantara pads.
Nov 8, 2023 · With the Niimbus US4+, the Empyrean 2 shows body and weight with an energetic delivery. The technical level here is good and the combo with the Empyrean 2 sounds lively and highly dynamic. The bass and mid-range here is excellent, while the top end is crispy but never harsh on the ears.
