Dec 30, 2023 · Opening a tape image with a filename ending in .data.cas will automatically look for an .audio.ogg file to merge with the data track. These can either be stored as loose files or they can be thrown together into a .zip file, in which case the emulator will automatically pull both files from the .zip archive.

Sep 27, 2011 · There are a couple of known issues with Altirra tape support: it does not yet support turbo encoding (non-FSK), and it will not read a .CAS file that has baud rates too high for regular FSK encoding. You can encode 6000 baud sectors in a CAS file even though a regular tape drive cannot support it (you need to bypass the FSK filters).
While compatible, Altirra BASIC is a reimplementation from scratch – it does not share any code with and is not based on Atari BASIC.
